A 25-year-old Bangladeshi national, Mohammad Ashraful, was arrested at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport after allegedly breaking the glass wall of the international transit lounge and attempting to exit the airport. He had arrived from Singapore on an IndiGo flight and was scheduled to board a connecting flight to Dhaka.
According to sources, the incident occurred while Ashraful was seated in the international transit area. He reportedly stood up suddenly and smashed the glass partition in an attempt to move outside the restricted zone. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on duty immediately detained him and began questioning. During the interrogation, Ashraful reportedly said, “Allah told me that sunlight will increase my power.”
The CISF later handed him over to the NSCBI Airport Police Station. Ashraful, a resident of Narayanganj in Bangladesh who had been working in Singapore, was arrested by Bidhannagar Police. His documents are being verified, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
